Il Giro del Mondo/A Baroque World Tour

Based on the true story of the 17th century adventurer Francesco Careri, the show of the Ensemble Bradamante “Il Giro del Mondo” takes you on the journey of a man who inspired generations of travellers after him, most famously Jules Verne in his “Around the world in 80 days”. In the show the actor Carlo Ferrante is the great-grand-son of the adventurer and talks about the character of Francesco Careri, about the various stages of his travels, and his journal full of clever judgement and spontaneity. The journey is made visible on a large map of the world, and for each leg of the trip the musicians play music originating from the country visited. The musicians are taking an active part in the show. By taking on the roles of people who travel with Francesco Careri they take an active part in the show. The performance is intended for children and families and aims to illuminate the treasure to be found by travelling: the meeting of other cultures and civilisations.

The show is available in French, Dutch, English and Italian.

Sleeping Beauty

Concerned by the idea that classical concerts are generally not easily accessible for children and families, Rachel Heymans and Ayelet Karni asked for the collaboration of the puppeteer Mel Myland to create an unique version of the tale of Sleeping Beauty, which aims to let the expressive and narrative quality of Early Music express itself. Mel Myland designed a beautiful and ingenious scenery that became an actual character in the show. It opens, closes and always surprises, letting the pretty table-marionettes appear and disappear in no time.

Sleeping Beauty is a musical puppet show, which is performed entirely without the spoken word. The music alone is telling the story of the well-known fairy tale and covers the entire repertoire from medieval to contemporary music including pop, rock and film music.

Thanks to its beautiful and surprising scenery Sleeping Beauty is a visually entertaining show, which brings live Early Music closer to a broader audience, making it suddenly sound very modern.
